How would you continue to develop your product line when you are already one of the greatest and most beloved companies in the world? IKEA of Sweden sustained a period of rapid growth, wanted to grow even more and needed to refine their design approach.
LOTS was brought in to do an analysis from a design point of view of how the market’s image of the brand was consistent with IKEA’s profile and then provide creative and concrete proposals for change to strengthen their product line. The proposals included both an organizational change and a business-related focus for design, eg investments in the Asian market and how to simplify customers’ choice of environmentally friendly products.
LOTS findings were used as the input for IKEA’s global product strategy.
