It takes courage to think in new ways and Stena dares to. While both the shipping and energy industries anticipate major challenges in the future, Stena Group chooses to encounter these by introducing design methods in their established innovation processes.
Dan Sten Olsson approached LOTS with the mission to provide easy to use tools for thinking entirely new instead of thinking about improvements to existing solutions. LOTS was also commissioned to convey this to all of the companies in the Stena Sphere, which includes Stena Line, Stena Metal and Stena Property, and also companies in the Stena Adactum such as wholly owned Envac and Ballingslöv.
An exemplary model communicated the tools and we produced films, lectures and a book with in-depth knowledge of the Group’s annual CEO Forum in autumn 2011. The conclusion? If you want to create meaningful innovations and businesses that can take on the future you need three things: the courage to ask new kinds of questions, to bring in new types of skills and try out some new methods. Stena balances all three – in its quest to be an innovative example.
